track 22: unreleased module from canceled fifth EP
When viewed together as a whole, this body of work can easily be considered to be my first solo album. Over the past few years I have become increasingly convinced that familiarity with this album remains crucial to understanding the progression traced by my subsequent solo releases. With a fourth album looming in the near future, I feel the need to bring wider attention this music: It introduces some (if not most) of the central harmonic themes and and rhythmic ideas which I have either developed further or absolutely destroyed in my subsequent work. It is primarily for this reason that this material is being given an official release under the ilkae moniker. (The second reason being that this new render and fresh mastering job sounds unbelieveably good.)
Some unusual things to note:
All of these module files included date logs, as well as short journal entries - supposedly to keep myself keep track of when i made things and how i was feeling at the time. Apparently when I was 15 stuff like that was important. These date-logs and journal entries effectively establish this album as an audio journal of my 15th year on this fair planet. Listening to these songs 8-9 years later and looking across pictures from the era I am easily overcome with nostalgia and yearning for the simplicity of that era.
I am looking forward to a time where simplicity becomes commonplace in my life again, if only in the hope that it will allow me to write music this direct and unambiguous once again.

NOTE ON MASTERING AND THE LTD 2008 EDITION
In the summer of 2008 approximately twelve copies of a completely different version of 4EP were included along with pre-orders for my third album, Light Industry. These were produced using a mediocre rendering engine followed by a hasty mastering job, resulting in a recording that is far inferior to this official reissue. The 2008 version of 4EP has been disseminated on various private and public bittorrent trackers, sadly proving that everything I send through the post will end up on the internet for eternity. Even sadder yet is that it features the wrong bonus track! Any help I can get in subverting this leak in favour of the correct (and 300% more awesome) version of this album will be greatly appreciated.
